Your Vibe, Your Tribe: How SM Supermalls’ Newest Song ‘Gala To The Max’ Defines Modern Mall Culture

Your Vibe, Your Tribe: How SM Supermalls’ Newest Song ‘Gala To The Max’ Defines Modern Mall Culture

Forget the usual mall run; it’s time for a total vibe check. SM Supermalls, in an electrifying partnership with StarPop, has officially pulled the curtain back on its newest anthem, “Gala To The Max.” Performed by the powerhouse rising girl group DNA, this track is more than just a catchy earworm—it is a high-energy tribute to the modern Filipino "gala" culture and the diverse tribes that call the mall their second home.

As of April 12, 2026, the soundtrack to your weekend has arrived, and it is officially set to take over your social media feeds and mall hangouts nationwide.

The New "Third Space": More Than Just a Shopping Destination

In the Philippines, "malling" is a national pastime, but the definition of a mall visit is shifting. SM Supermalls is no longer just a place to check off a shopping list; it has evolved into a "third space"—that vital social environment separate from home and work.

“Gala To The Max” captures this exact mood. Whether you are hitting a fitness milestone at a boutique gym, diving deep into a niche fandom at a hobby shop, engaging in a late-night gaming marathon, or enjoying a "paw-some" afternoon with your furbabies at a pet-friendly café, SM remains the ultimate backdrop for every subculture.

“At SM, we’ve always been about creating spaces where memories are made. With ‘Gala To The Max,’ we’re celebrating that unique energy our shoppers bring,” says JonJon San Agustin, SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing. “It’s about your vibe and your tribe. Whether you're here to play, shop, or just hang out, we want you to feel that this is your space—the most loved mall that truly fits your lifestyle.”

Meet DNA: The Sisters Behind the Sound

The heart of the new anthem lies in the synchronized vocals and infectious energy of DNA. Composed of real-life sisters Ezri, Julia, and Tasha, this trio brings a fresh, youthful spirit to the StarPop-produced track. Their natural chemistry mirrors the "barkada" energy found in every SM corner, making them the perfect ambassadors for the "Gala To The Max" movement.

Designed with TikTok transitions and Instagram Reels in mind, the song features rhythmic beats and a soaring chorus that practically begs for a dance challenge. It’s the definitive score for every Gen Z and Millennial looking to document their "day in the life" at their favorite Supermall.

Why "Gala To The Max" is Trending: An SEO Breakdown

For those looking to stay on top of the latest trends, here is why this anthem is dominating the conversation:

  • Hyper-Local Relevance: The song celebrates the unique Filipino concept of gala (wandering/exploring), turning a simple outing into a maximized experience.

  • Inclusivity at its Core: From "plantitos" to "cosplayers," the anthem acknowledges that everyone has a tribe at SM.

  • Interactive Community: SM isn't just dropping a song; they are launching a movement. The rollout across 90 malls nationwide encourages shoppers to show off their moves and share their "Max" experiences online.

Join the Movement: How to Gala To The Max

The official rollout has begun! Next time you step into an SM Mall—from SM North EDSA to SM Seaside Cebu—listen for the upbeat tempo of DNA. SM is officially calling on the community to:

  1. Bring Your Tribe: Gather your friends, family, or pets.

  2. Come As You Are: Whether in athletic gear, cosplay, or Sunday best.

  3. Share the Vibe: Use the hashtag #GalaToTheMax to show the world how you live life to the fullest at the country's most loved mall.

Stronger Futures Start Here as Job Opportunities Open Nationwide This Labor Day

Stronger Futures Start Here as Job Opportunities Open Nationwide This Labor Day

This Labor Day, SM continued empowering community opportunities as multiple Job Fairs were mounted across 15 venues nationwide. This brought together 650 employers and 17,400 jobseekers, with more than 1,000 Filipinos hired on the spot—a powerful reflection of how accessible, community-based platforms can deliver real employment outcomes.

But beyond the numbers are real stories—of courage, determination, and new beginnings.

Across multiple SM malls, thousands of Filipinos walked in carrying resumes—and walked out with something more: real opportunities, renewed confidence, and for many, a fresh start. The SM Job Fair once again served as a platform for employment, connecting jobseekers, employers, and government partners in one convenient, community-centered space at their most-loved SM Supermalls.

For jobseekers like France Barcial and Mark Andrei Jimenez the experience was life-changing.

“Hindi ko po expected na ngayon din ako matatanggap, bakasakali lang po” he shared, holding back tears. “Meron na po akong pang-suporta sa college ko sa PUP.”

"Malaking tulong po ito sa pamilya namin. kung sa iba po, baka nag-antay pako kung kailan ako tatawagan. dito po hired agad."

Moments like these echoed throughout the day, as hiring booths became spaces of possibility—where interviews led to immediate job offers, and uncertainty turned into hope.

SM Job Fairs continue to stand out for their accessibility and efficiency. From application to interview—and even the processing of government requirements—everything is made available in one place, allowing jobseekers to focus on what matters most: securing their future.

Miss Rea Amata, a representative from the Labor Relations and Public Employment Service Office of Marikina emphasized the impact of such initiatives:

“Malaking bagay ito para sa mga Pilipino, sa mga constituents namin sa Marikina. Bringing opportunities closer to communities is key—and SM provides that platform. Isipin mo, hindi ka na dadayo at gagastos para maghanap ng trabaho.”

Employers also highlighted the value of direct, face-to-face engagement, as attested by Noelle Tupas of Work Makers Manpower Corporation.

“We’re able to meet qualified candidates faster and more efficiently, second time we joined this job fair and some of our previous hires have stayed in our company, the others found other opportunities. Here, you can see the potential immediately, and that makes hiring more meaningful.”

Beyond employment, SM continues to strengthen its role in workforce development by introducing upskilling opportunities—including digital and AI learning sessions in partnership with institutions such as the Department Information and Communications Technology. These initiatives aim to help jobseekers stay competitive in an evolving job market, reinforcing the shift from job access to job readiness.

“We have certificate trainings and seminars na nagdadagdag ng value at knowledge sa ating mga applicants. In fact, we have ready data and information ng mga trainees natin previously na na-hire or lumawak ang freelancing expertise dahil sa programs natin,” said Erika Zamora, trainer from DICT.

Many jobseekers felt the significance of the initiative.

Alberto Eder shared, “Hindi lang po ito para sa IT professionals, AI age na po talaga tayo. Lahat po ng gusto magtrabaho, makikinabang po dito sa upskilling.”

Through strong collaboration with government agencies, employers, and institutional partners, SM Job Fairs continue to demonstrate how public-private partnerships can drive meaningful, real-world impact.

As the day came to a close, what remained were not just filled job positions—but stories of resilience, determination, and new beginnings.

Because at SM Supermalls, it’s not just about bringing people together—it’s about helping them move forward.

SM Cares and the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) bring together 47,500 advocates nationwide for 2026 ASP Angels Walk with SM

SM Cares and the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) bring together 47,500 advocates nationwide for 2026 ASP Angels Walk with SM

The Autism Society Philippines (ASP), together with SM Cares and its partners, gathered 47,500 allies and advocates nationwide together at the ASP Angels Walk for Autism last April 26, 2026. The record-breaking attendance this year reflects the growing support for the Autism Community through collective programs and efforts done by SM Cares and the ASP in forging an Autism-OK Philippines.

For close to two decades, SM hosted the ASP Angels Walk as a celebration that aims to turn a long-standing advocacy into a meaningful celebration of inclusion, dignity, and hope. This year's celebration further expanded this advocacy by empowering communities through simultaneous walks across SM's most-loved malls nationwide.

“ASP Angels Walk reminds us that inclusion is about creating space, and more importantly, making people feel that they truly belong. At SM, we are honored to walk united with the autism community—their families and fellow advocates who have long shown us the power of courage and perseverance. This commitment is about pursuing transformative inclusivity: empowering communities until every person is seen, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive,” said Steven Tan, President, SM Supermalls.

Barrier-free inclusion and transformative action

This year's theme “Aumbitious. Aarangkada. Aangat.”, encouraged like-minded advocates to turn aspirations and conversations on impactful inclusivity into actions that are not only felt but are transformative.

To prepare for the event the SM Mall of Asia Arena’s venue team underwent specialized training from the Department of Tourism called "Barrier-Free Tourism Kaya Natin." The comprehensive session focused on enhancing accessibility and inclusivity for customers on the spectrum ensuring their safety and wellbeing while in the premises.

This year’s event was also made special through the recognition of meaningful partners in the advocacy, including SM Book Nook, which was honored as ASP Autism Works Partner of the Year. The distinction reflects how inclusive community spaces can help open more opportunities for learning, engagement, and belonging. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte was also recognized with the Hans T. Sy Leadership Award for Autism Inclusion and Welfare, honoring leadership that supports the autism community in meaningful and lasting ways.

Collaborative Advocacy

Since its inception, the ASP Angels Walk has grown into a long-standing movement that champions inclusion and advances the vision of an Autism-OK Philippines. The movement is reinforced by SM's pursuit of becoming a truly inclusive Mall for All—accepting, accommodating, and appreciative of customers no matter what their needs may be.

As a continuing partner of ASP, SM Cares remains committed to building spaces and programs that support the autism community throughout the year. With sustained initiatives in inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement, SM continues to stand with individuals on the spectrum and their families—always working toward a future where no one is left behind.

Held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and simultaneously in SM City Bacolod, SM City Baguio, SM City Butuan, SM Seaside City Cebu, SM City Davao, SM City Iloilo, SM City Lipa, SM City Lucena, SM City Olongapo Central, SM City Tuguegarao, and Virac Town Plaza, this year’s ASP Angels Walk continued to unite communities across the country in support of individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.

  • Diverse Disciplines: From beach volleyball in SM City La Union and football in SM City Laoag to ice hockey, figure skating, and push bike competitions for kids.

"Free Play, Full Fun": Breaking Barriers to Fitness

The core philosophy of the anniversary was "Free Play." On April 11 and 12, barriers to entry were removed, allowing walk-in visitors to join sessions of Zumba, Karatedo, bowling, and table tennis for free.

“This is movement at scale,” says Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing at SM Supermalls. “We design spaces where communities gather, stay active, and experience life to the max.”

SM Supermalls Dominates Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards 2026 as Organization of the Year

SM Supermalls Dominates Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards 2026 as Organization of the Year

Innovation and customer excellence just reached a new peak for the Philippines. In a major win for local business, SM Supermalls was officially named Organization of the Year at the prestigious 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held in Macao. This marks the second time the retail giant has claimed this top tier honor, proving that its "customer first" strategy remains a benchmark across the region.

The win was supported by a massive haul of 30 individual awards, including four Gold, 13 Silver, and 13 Bronze trophies. From tech driven sustainability to inclusive community programs, SM’s multi faceted approach to modern retail has clearly set it apart as a regional leader.

A Win for Sustainable and Tech-Driven Retail

The Stevie Awards recognized SM’s aggressive push toward environmental stewardship. The brand has successfully integrated eco friendly tech and green policies into its daily operations, proving that large scale business can lead the way in protecting the planet.

  • Powered by the Sun: Expansion of solar powered mall rooftops to reduce carbon footprints.

  • SM Green Movement: Meaningful water conservation and coastal cleanup initiatives.

  • Save Water Program: Embedding sustainability into the core of the mall experience.

Inclusion and Community at the Heart

Beyond the hardware and tech, the awards highlighted SM’s commitment to "social good." The brand’s mission to be a Mall for All was a standout theme during the ceremony.

Initiatives like Movies for the Blind and the nationwide SM Job Fairs were celebrated for creating inclusive spaces. These programs ensure that opportunities and entertainment are accessible to all, regardless of physical ability or economic background.

Celebrating Culture and Youth

SM continues to transform its spaces into cultural stages. Programs like the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition and Mindanao Art were cited for bringing world class creativity closer to local communities.

Furthermore, the brand’s focus on the next generation through the SM Super Spelling Bee and SM Little Stars highlights its role in nurturing young talent and strengthening family bonds.

Global Expansion: From Laoag to China

The 2026 recognitions also shed light on SM’s successful expansion. New destinations like SM City Laoag and the heritage focused Mallseum in SM City La Union demonstrate how the brand adapts to local identities.

The excellence extends across borders as well, with SM China winning big for campaigns like "Mango Vibes Only" in Yangzhou and wellness driven activations in Jinjiang. This underscores SM’s strength as a regional powerhouse capable of delivering immersive experiences across different markets.

Why It Matters

Winning a Stevie is often called the "Business Oscar," and for a tech savvy generation, it serves as a seal of approval. It shows that SM Supermalls is not just a place to shop but a dynamic ecosystem that uses innovation to improve lives. Whether it is through solar power, inclusive jobs, or digital lifestyle hubs like the SM Active Hub, the goal is a "maxed out" experience for every visitor.

Final Thoughts

Accepting the award in Macao, Executive Vice President Joaquin L. San Agustin dedicated the win to the millions of customers, tenant partners, and employees. As SM Supermalls continues to evolve, this regional recognition confirms that they are on the right track in building destinations that grow with communities.

SM Supermalls Leads Multi-City Coastal Cleanup to Celebrate World Water Day

SM Supermalls Leads Multi-City Coastal Cleanup to Celebrate World Water Day

Protecting our oceans is a high tech challenge that requires a very human solution: collective action. In celebration of World Water Day, SM Supermalls, through its CSR arm SM Cares, mobilized communities for a massive coastal cleanup across six strategic locations nationwide.

The initiative involved seven "most loved" malls, but it went beyond just picking up trash. This year, the focus shifted toward enhanced waste segregation education, teaching volunteers how to analyze, sort, and properly dispose of marine debris to prevent it from ever reaching the water again.

Seven Malls, One Mission for the Ocean

The synchronized cleanup efforts took place at the following locations, uniting local communities from Northern Luzon down to the Visayas:

  • Luzon: SM City La Union, SM City Urdaneta Central, SM City Tanza, and SM City Daet.

  • Visayas: SM City Consolacion, SM Seaside City Cebu, and the newly opened SM J Mall.

By targeting these diverse coastal areas, SM Cares successfully diverted a significant amount of waste from sensitive marine ecosystems. Participants didn't just clean; they performed a deep dive into waste analysis, identifying the most common pollutants—like single use plastics and beverage containers—that threaten local biodiversity.

From Cleanup to Education: The SM Green Movement

This initiative is a core component of the SM Green Movement and the company’s Waste Free Future campaign. Instead of a one time event, SM is treating these cleanups as a classroom for environmental stewardship.

Engr. Liza Silerio, Vice President for Corporate Compliance at SM Supermalls, emphasized that the goal is long term behavioral change. By helping Filipinos understand the "end to end" process of waste management—from the moment an item is discarded to its eventual recovery—SM is fostering a more proactive approach to environmental protection.

Key Features of the World Water Day Initiative

  • Data Driven Sorting: Waste was categorized to help participants understand the impact of improperly managed plastic.

  • Nationwide Reach: Simultaneous activities in seven major malls across the Philippines.

  • Community Bayanihan: Collaboration between mall employees, environmental partners, and local stakeholders.

  • Sustainability Roadmap: Part of a larger calendar including World Oceans Day in June and International Coastal Cleanup in September.

Why It Matters

Marine plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of the 2020s. For a tech savvy generation that values sustainability, these cleanups offer a tangible way to contribute to a "circular economy." When a major developer like SM uses its platform to educate thousands of people on waste segregation, it scales the impact of environmentalism from individual acts to a national movement.

Final Thoughts

World Water Day at SM proved that protecting our planet is a team sport. By combining the spirit of bayanihan with practical waste management education, SM Cares is empowering Filipinos to take ownership of their coastlines. The message is clear: our everyday actions, no matter how small, are the key to a waste free future.

SM City Caloocan Launches Government Service Express for Seamless Public Access

SM City Caloocan Launches Government Service Express for Seamless Public Access

Processing government documents just got a major upgrade in North Manila. SM Supermalls, in collaboration with the Caloocan City Government and various national agencies, officially opened the Government Service Express (GSE) at SM City Caloocan on March 25, 2026.

This new hub is designed to transform the way citizens interact with the government by moving essential services out of crowded traditional offices and into the comfortable, tech-ready environment of the mall. Whether you are a jobseeker, a business owner, or a parent, the GSE ensures that public service is now just a few steps away from your favorite retail spots.

Your One-Stop Public Service Hub

The GSE at SM City Caloocan is the 18th full-scale express hub in the SM network. It serves as a centralized location where residents can handle multiple transactions in a single trip.

No more traveling across the city to different buildings. At this new facility, you can find representatives and services from:

  • National Agencies: SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and the PRC.

  • Security and Safety: PNP (Philippine National Police) and BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection).

  • Local Government: Caloocan Business Permit and Licensing Office for entrepreneurs.

Empowering the Modern Workforce

For the working population, time is the most valuable resource. The GSE delivers real world impact by allowing employees to process requirements without taking multiple days off work.

From securing a professional license from the PRC to updating SSS contributions or PhilHealth benefits, the hub streamlines the "paperwork" side of life. This efficiency allows individuals to focus on what matters: participating in the economy, building their careers, and supporting their families.

Key Features of the GSE Caloocan

  • Centralized Location: Multiple agencies under one roof at SM City Caloocan.

  • Extended Reach: SM Caloocan is the 51st mall to host government services, and the 18th to feature the full GSE format.

  • Efficiency First: Designed to support urban, working populations who value reliable and fast service.

  • Community Integration: In select locations, GSEs also serve as access points for medical assistance and medicine through partner agencies.

Why It Matters

Malls have evolved beyond shopping destinations; they are now vital community service centers. By integrating government offices into the mall layout, SM Supermalls and the Caloocan LGU are breaking down the barriers of bureaucracy.

Chris Martin D. Coquia, Regional Operations Head of SM, noted that the initiative is guided by the "All For You" commitment, putting community needs at the center of the mall experience. This public-private partnership is a blueprint for how technology and smart urban planning can make everyday progress easier for every Filipino.

Final Thoughts

The launch of the Government Service Express at SM City Caloocan is a win for accessibility and dignity in public service. It proves that government transactions do not have to be a chore. The next time you need to update your IDs or clear your business permits, head over to SM City Caloocan and experience a more seamless, people-centered way to get things done.

Transitioning from the classroom to the boardroom is a major milestone, and SM Offices is making sure Filipino students don't have to walk that path alone. The Bridges to Success (BTS) Career Fair 2026 recently took over the SMX Convention Center Manila, proving that the right partnership between the academe and industry leaders can create a powerful launchpad for the next generation of professionals.

Now in its third year, this joint initiative between SM Offices and National University (NU) gathered over 3,500 students and graduates. It wasn't just a standard recruitment event; it was a high-energy forum designed to turn academic knowledge into real-world career momentum.

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment

The BTS Career Fair 2026 stood out by offering a multi-dimensional approach to career hunting. Instead of just passing around resumes, participants engaged in a "career ecosystem" that provided:

  • Industry Learning: Dynamic career talks and panel discussions featuring seasoned industry leaders.

  • Direct Recruitment: On-site hiring activities that allowed students to interface directly with HR heads from top-tier companies.

  • Mentorship: Meaningful conversations that gave young professionals a glimpse into the actual mindset needed to thrive in today’s digital and physical workplaces.

By bringing SM Offices' tenant-partners into the mix, the event ensured that the job opportunities available were perfectly aligned with the skills being taught at National University.

The Nationwide Rollout: More SM Job Fairs This March and April

If you missed the BTS event at SMX, don't worry. SM Supermalls is keeping the momentum going with a massive nationwide rollout of #SMJobFair events. These fairs are designed to bring thousands of roles—from entry-level tech positions to specialized corporate jobs—closer to local communities.

Why It Matters

In a rapidly evolving job market, "future-ready" isn't just a buzzword; it's a necessity. Initiatives like Bridges to Success provide the essential infrastructure for inclusive growth. By focusing on industry-academe collaboration, SM ensures that the Filipino workforce remains competitive and resilient.

Furthermore, in line with International Women’s Month, these fairs highlight the growing leadership of women in the workforce, creating a balanced and inclusive environment where everyone has a fair shot at their dream role.
